— Studio Vitality Yoga & Pilates will host a Yoga for Anxiety workshop at 12:30 pm on Saturday, Oct. 21 with yoga teacher and mental health counselor Jenn J. Allen.
“Over 40 million people in the US suffer from a form of an anxiety -based disorder. Holistic modalities can be an effective way of managing anxiety as well as other mental health issues in conjunction with professional care,” said Allen.
Allen has an impressive bio in both the yoga world as an ERYT-500 hour trained teacher and the mental health industry with over 20 years in the holistic arts and clinical experience that includes a specialization in trauma. She is also a traditional herbalist and the founder of Sundari Yoga in Stroudsburg PA (now Boundless Yoga).
Open to health professionals and any individuals eager to learn more about managing anxiety, all levels of yoga practitioners are welcome and yoga experience is not necessary. For yoga teachers attending, this workshop will count for four credits towards continuing education.
The four-hour workshop, Oct.21, is from 12:30 to 4:30pm and costs $60 per person. To register go to: StudioVitalityNJ.com
Allen describes her approach: “This workshop will examine a holistic approach to managing anxiety disorders by combining yoga, aromatherapy, botanical medicine and western psychological theory to create a well rounded and thorough approach to maintaining optimal well being and functioning. This four- hour immersion will include lecture, psycho-education about the fight/flight response, experiential aroma play, and a yoga sequence designed to soothe and nourish the nervous system.”
Studio Vitality owner Dana Calandrillo is honored to host Allen and offer Yoga for Anxiety to the community.
“Feeling anxious is something we can all relate to, and I believe this workshop is both illuminating and empowering, “ said Calandrillo. “When we are able to not only understand how are thoughts create a visceral reaction, we are able to recognize we have the ability to control these emotions and reactions with the simple practice of mindfulness, breath and the teachings of yoga.”
