Free training in use of Narcan

NEWTON — Each year we lose thousands of people of all ages from drug overdose, globally. Some survivors suffer permanent injuries, causing devastation to their families and friends. In Sussex County alone, law enforcement administered the opioid overdose reversal medication, Narcan, 52 times in 2016. Those are 52 individual lives saved from possible overdose death by an opioid like heroin and prescription medication. On Thursday, August 24, 2017, The Center for Prevention and Counseling in Newton will be hosting a free Narcan training, open to all community members. Opioid overdose is preventable and knowing the facts about drugs and the signs and symptoms of overdoses can equip you with the ability to save a life. These trainings also help provide education and increase awareness of the issues surrounding substance use disorders while highlighting resources for recovery.
