SPARTA – Come one, Come all!! The Sparta Historical Society announces that there will be a sale featuring Holiday, Christmas and seasonal items including, collectibles, and small antiques to further the Historical Society’s renovation work at the Van Kirk Homestead.
The Holiday Stocking Stuffer event will take place on Saturday, November 18th from 9:00AM to 3:00PM at the Sparta VFW Hall located at 66 Main Street. FREE ADMISSION and PARKING, FOOD will be available for purchase.
In case you have not recently visited, the Princess White Deer exhibit is currently on display, besides viewing the other Galleries, you are invited to come discover it for yourself! Even though renovations are still underway at the Van Kirk Homestead, the Society is pleased to say it is the only museum in the region able to feature period rooms, special history themed galleries, AND a major changing exhibition gallery. There is so much more to accomplish such as restoring the cooking fireplace from the 1800s in the basement, preserving our carriage barn (a long term multi-step goal, with structural integrity completed in 2017), and this year we have also been diligently working in our basement to relocate our mining and mineral exhibit to be reopened Fall 2018. We continue to expand our exhibit community program goal by arranging for school, scouts and community organization visitations during our spring, summer arts and fall exhibit schedule. The Sparta Historical Society looks forward to seeing you at the 3rd Annual Holiday Stocking Stuffer Sale --
