Learning leadership in Washington D.C.

Five students from the Sussex County Technical School’s chapter of SkillsUSA traveled to Washington D.C. with their advisor Ralph Starace and State Director of SkillsUSA New Jersey Pete Carey to attend SkillsUSA’s Washington Leadership Training Institute at the Hyatt Dulles for five days.
There they toured the nation’s capital, attended training sessions on leadership, citizenship, and advocacy, visited the SkillsUSA National Leadership Center in Loudon County, Va., met with their Congressmen Scott Garrett’s aide Scott Bissey to discuss career and technical education and reauthorization of the Carl D. Perkins Act, and visited Arlington National Cemetery and the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial.
SkillsUSA New Jersey State President Daria Ferdine, Mia Branham, Sarah Higgins, Matt Corsello, and Bradford Van Orden also earned their Statesman Awards while at WLTI.
