Leotsakos crowned Miss Sparta 2012

SPARTA — Tuesday, June 26 marked the 75th anniversary of the Miss Sparta Pageant and a total of 21 girls competed for the title this year.

Stephanie Leotsakos was named Miss Sparta 2012 and was crowned by last year's winner Adrienne Marcino.

“I had never been in a pageant before so competing in the Miss Sparta pageant was a very new and exciting experience. When I heard my name announced as the winner of Miss Sparta 2012 my heart jumped and I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I started laughing for joy. Being a contestant was a lot of fun and winning just felt surreal,” she said. Leotsakos will advance to the Queen of the Fair Pageant at the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show on Aug. 4.

First runner up was Samantha Sadighi, second runner up was Julianna Vitolo, and Sabina Incantalupo won third runner up.

Judges for the evening were Mrs. NJ Petite American 2012 Joy Cutrone, Virginia Littell, and Mrs. Woman New Jersey Petite American 2011 Rita-Ann Schmick.

Guest speaker Sylvia M. Montero author of “Make It Your Business” provided the contestants and audience with her story of determination in reaching her goals in life, and encouraged contestants to follow their dreams.

Special performer Geoff Doubleday, soothed anxious nerves before the title of Miss Sparta 2012 was announced.
