Local artist showing at Unity

— The work of local resident and instructor of "Easy Art' for Sparta Seniors is now featured in the Gallery of Artists at Unity. Herb Stanske paints in a realistic style using subject matter from landscapes to historical places. He retired from Nabisco as manager of the Graphics Center. A graduate of the Art Career School in New York City, he studied creative design at Columbia University.
Herb was the Featured Artist at the NJ State Fair where he won the Deanne Uptegrove Purchase Award. He has exhibited in numerous show including one-man shows at Nabisco, the Dutot Museum, Chester Library and group shows at Lever House in NYC, Paper Mill Playhouse, Morris Museum and Hilltop Country Day School. His paintings have appeared on the covers of "The Papoose", a monthly magazine published by Lake Mohawk Country Club; Spring used several of his pen & ink drawings for their publications.
The artist has served as trustee for the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, President of the Essex Water Color Club, Juror of the Sussex and Warren County Teen Arts Festivals, the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce Art Scholarship and the Morris County Senior and Disabled Persons Art Show. Herb participated in the Visiting Artist Program at Sussex County Community College, was Exhibiting Chair for the New Jersey Art Directors Club Annual Show and instructed children's art classes at the Sussex County YMCA.
Paintings are a part of the Sparta Municipal Building and Sparta Library permanent art collections as well as private and corporate. Selected works can be seen at Unity of Sussex County on Mudcut Road in Lafayette through June.
