Local gymnast wins at state championship

SPARTA — On March 29, New Jersey held the 2015 USAG State Gymnastics Championships at Rutgers University in Piscataway.
Miranda Mornhineway, of Sparta, participated in the level 9 Senior Division. She is a member of the North Stars Gymnastics Academy in Boonton.
Mornhineway had one of her best meets. Placing first on vault, balance beam, floor exercise and second on bars. She was first in the all-around with a new state record of 37.975.
She also set new state records in the vault and floor exercise.
The North Stars finished first in the team competition.
Mornhineway will be moving on to the Regional Championships in Pennsylvania, April 17.
She is coached by Tony Gehman and Ashley Umberger.
