Local insurance company now offers Guard products
NEWTON – U.S. Insurance Agency of Newton has been appointed to represent Guard Insurance Group (a Berkshire Hathaway company) in addressing the insurance needs of New Jersey businesses.
According to Guard Vice President of Regional Sales Dave Simmons, “We receive hundreds of inquiries from agents every year and have a very careful screening process before selecting one. U.S. Insurance Agency met our standards for professionalism and quality service to policyholders.”
U. S. Insurance is an independent agency offering auto, homeowners, business, workers’ compensation, life, and health insurance coverage as well as bonds, providing comprehensive products to both individuals and businesses.
Founded locally, the company has been serving Sussex County and surrounding areas for the past 14 years.
U.S. Insurance Agency Vice President and Partner Rich Krasnomowitz says, “We sought a Guard appointment because our small- and mid-sized commercial customers could benefit. With an A+ A.M. Best rating [an independent source of information on the financial strength of insurers] and the backing of Berkshire Hathaway, GUARD seemed to be a useful addition to the list of companies we represent. Guard’s focus is smaller Main St. America-type operations, a market segment that appeals to us as well.”
Headquartered in northeastern Pennsylvania, GUARD has an established track record as a specialist in workers’ compensation coverage and more recently began providing other complementary property and casualty lines as well.
The organization works with a carefully selected group of independent agents, operates in 33 states plus D.C., and was named a Ward’s Top 50 Property and Casualty Performer for 2012. In October of last year, the company was acquired by National Indemnity Company, a subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. GUARD wrote approximately $400 million in premium in 2012 for over 66,000 businesses.
