Local opens custom embroidery and engraving store

STANHOPE — A lifelong native of Byram and mother of four boys, Charlene Malley is pursuing her life-long dream by opening her new business, You Name It, in Stanhope. The store celebrated a two-day grand opening this past weekend to celebrate.
Malley earned a degree in merchandising and her first job was as an assistant buyer for B'Altman in New York City. She was then a buyer for Joskes, in Dallas Texas.
"After raising my children, the opportunity arose to purchase K&N Sports in the CVS Plaza," Malley said. "I discussed it with my family and we decided it was a great way to get back into the workforce."
You Name It produces custom varsity jackets, team uniforms, spirit wear, embroidery, screen printing, trophies, plaques and engraving to meet all of its customers' needs.
A stickler for timeliness, Malley makes sure all orders are processed and on schedule.
"We impose a four o'clock deadline each day for processing orders to ensure products move through our system efficiently to meet the customers' needs," Malley said.
Happy to come to work
She said there are so many facets to the business, and what makes her happy is the smiles on her customers' faces and "the happy faces of letter winners ordering a varsity jacket for the first time."
She also loves watching team captains pick up their spirit wear for their squad and coaches picking up trophies and awards for athletes' end of season ceremonies.
"Everyone comes around to help," Malley said, "When my boys are home from college, they work on T-shirts, engraving and just about any order which may need attention."
Her nieces are also helpful, assisting Malley with her computer skills and putting orders together. Malley's husband remodeled the entire store, painting, installing new shelving, making showroom displays, counter space and new ID signs plus interior lighting.
When she's not working at the store, Malley enjoys cooking, cross stitch, biking and hiking with family and friends. She is thankful to family and friends for their support and encouragement and feels that You Name It is fulfilling a much needed service for teams, businesses, clubs and organizations.
"We're happy to work with your ideas and turn them into customized products," Malley said.
With Christmas around the corner, You Name It also does embroidery on single items, such as monogramming bathrobes and the like. Customers can either order items through the store or provide their own items to be embroidered.
