| 26 Jan 2016 | 01:39

Rocco Silano will be performing two shows and teaching magic at the Sparta Avenue Stage on Sunday, Jan. 31. Silano is New Jersey's own two-time FISM award winner. FISM, The International Federation of Magic Societies, is an international association representing over 50,000 members from some 50 countries. Every three years, at various countries around the globe, FISM organizes and sponsors a world championship, an international competition for magicians.

Rocco won the championship for Most Original Close up Act in Stockholm in 2006, adding to his 1994 FISM award for Micromagic at the competition held in Yokohama, Japan. He was twice awarded the prestigious MAC award (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) for Best Variety Entertainer. Besides performing live and on television around the world, Rocco has appeared on the TV special Monte Carlo Magic Stars in 2009 and several times on The Masters of Illusion TV shows; he was a regular on VH1's TV series "Celebracadabra."

Rocco is an atypical magician. He uses coins and cards but his act also employs jewelry, wine, fruit and frozen foods. He is debonair and charming, a bit of a ladies man, and recognized as a star by the magic community for his charismatic stage personality as well as his flawless technique.

"It has been a goal and dream of ours to have magic superstars like Rocco perform live and up close to the non-magician audience," said Diane Garsetti, co-proprietor of the Sparta Avenue Stage. "Rocco has appeared on TV shows around the world but nothing can compare to seeing his show live. His magic is astoundingly different and fun and can be appreciated by people of all ages, kids and adults alike. Rocco is recognized around the magic circles for his unique expertise, innovative techniques and methodologies."

He will premier a brand new lecture/workshop for magicians only (never before seen in New Jersey) at 3:30 p.m. Many of his effects and items will be on display and for sale during the workshop. General Seating tickets are $15-show times are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.-workshop to follow the 2 p.m. show beginning about 3:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.spartastage.com or please call 973-769-2893 for information and/or reservations.

Boston-based George Saterial, magic's only two-time Gold Medal Champion, will perform on March 20, including two shows and a workshop.

John Pizzi, an energetic stand-up comic and ventriloquist, will perform on April 17. John is a national headliner at comedy clubs, resorts, colleges, and theaters across the United States. A regular at both the Riveria Hotel in Las Vegas and the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, John is also a member of the Friars Club in New York City and Los Angeles.
