— The 2017 NJ State Fair started this week at the Sussex County Fairgrounds. Saturday presented an almost cloudless comfortable afternoon for all the fair attendees to eat, drink, and enjoy the animal exhibits, the rides, and the food.
On Saturday night, in the packed Performing Arts tent, the annual Queen of the Fair ceremony was held. Twenty-one county contestants were entered and 6 were chosen as finalists. These six (Miss Branchville Hannah Orr, Miss Green Keely Schmerber, Miss Hardyston Adrianna Purcell, Miss Lafayette Caitlyn Kunz, and Miss Ogdensburg Randi Hornyak) were then asked two questions with one based on their accomplishments and another one on a random Fair-related question taken from a basketful of questions.
The 2017 Queen of the Fair was then chosen. The winner was Miss Green Keely Schmerber with 1st runner-up Miss Lafayette Caitlyn Kunz, and 2nd runner-up Miss Hardyston Adrianna Purcell. The People’s Choice Award went to Miss Montague Brooke Johnson.
