— The sixth annual Pass It Along Triathlon will take place on Saturday, July 25, at the boardwalk in Sparta.

This multi-sport endurance event attracts over 1,000 athletes and spectators from all over the U.S.

Participants swim a half-mile, bike 10.8 miles and run 3.1 miles. Participants may enter as an individual or a two to three person relay team.

For a second year, the fastest finisher on a non-road, non-triathlon bike will be awarded a brand new road bike. Awards will be given to first, second and third place overall male and female, relay teams and various age group categories.

Whether you're racing, cheering or volunteering, the triathlon is an exciting event for all to experience.

Pass It Along was founded in 2001 and provides young people the opportunity to plan, execute, lead, and participate in initiatives to bring about positive change in their community and beyond. In addition, they provide a workshop series at no cost to both middle schools and high schools titled “Discover Your Passion and Purpose” in which the topics of Self-Awareness, Gratitude and Service are explored through group discussion, experiential exercises, media and interactive games. The students are then given the opportunity to participate in various leadership programs throughout the year as well as the afterschool club with volunteerism opportunities.

This year’s presenting sponsors Newton Medical Center and Atlantic Sports Health are thrilled that the event is now a USA Triathlon sanctioned event and already only 60 spots are remaining until the event registration closes.
