SCCC hosts award-winning poet

— Award-winning poet, Mary Makofske, will be hosting a poetry reading and book signing at Sussex County Community College (SCCC). The event will take place on Saturday, September 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in SCCC’s Performing Arts Center. She will also launch her fourth book, World Enough, and Time. Mary Makofske’s previously published books, Traction and Eating Nasturtiums were awarded the Richard Snyder Award and a Flume Press Chapbook Award, respectively. Her poems have appeared in many literary journals nationwide and in Australia and the U.K. and in eighteen anthologies. Individual poems have received second place in the Allen Ginsberg Awards, the Robert Penn Warren Poetry Prize, the Lullwater Review Prize, the Spoon River Poetry Review Prize, the Iowa Woman Prize, The Ledge Prize, and the International Poetry Prize from Atlanta Review. Mary has taught English at Ramapo College of New Jersey and SUNY Orange, from which she retired in 2006.
