SCCC receives $428K in federal funding to expand Allied Health programs
Newton. Sussex County Community College will use $428,000 in federal funding to upgrade labs and equipment as it expands Allied Health programs to address healthcare workforce shortages in Northwest New Jersey.
Sussex County Community College has been awarded $428,000 in federal funding to expand its Allied Health curriculum in response to growing industry and community demand across Northwest New Jersey.
The funding was secured through a Fiscal Year 2026 Congressionally Directed Spending project selected by U.S. Sen. Cory Booker and included in the final federal appropriations bill signed into law.
The investment will support the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for new Allied Health programs scheduled to launch within the next year.
College officials said the funding will allow Sussex County Community College to modernize instructional laboratories, strengthen hands-on learning environments and ensure students train on industry-relevant technology.
The expanded programming is designed to address workforce shortages in critical healthcare fields while creating accessible career pathways for residents of Sussex County and surrounding communities.
“Healthcare employers across Northwest New Jersey continue to express the need for highly trained professionals,” said Cory Homer, president of Sussex County Community College. “This funding allows us to respond strategically, expanding program offerings, increasing capacity and preparing students for immediate entry into high-demand careers that directly impact the health and well-being of our communities.”
College officials said the new equipment will support workforce development programs for traditional students, adult learners and incumbent workers seeking to expand their skills.
By aligning academic programming with employer demand, the college aims to strengthen the regional healthcare workforce pipeline while continuing to provide affordable and accessible educational opportunities across Northwest New Jersey.
