Scout Troop gives back to community
In the fall of 2018 Troop 150 organized its annual spaghetti dinner fund raiser and Knoll Heights seniors’ luncheon, a free event for the seniors of Knoll Heights.
The Knoll Heights luncheon is a highly anticipated and rewarding event for the scouts, leaders and the seniors. At the Senior Center located at Knoll Heights, the scouts of Troop 150 bring all the makings for the luncheon including salad, bread, spaghetti, meatballs and desert. The scouts take drink orders and serve them to the seniors. The meal is served buffet style and the boys carry plates back to the tables for the seniors. Gavin Denmead, a First-Class scout, said “It is wonderful that so many young men are able to be part of this great program, being an active part of the community.”
Later that same day, Troop 150 held their annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser, with two seatings, at the Sparta United Methodist Church. Weeks earlier, the scouts sold tickets to the dinner in locations around town as well as by going door to door in their neighborhoods. This year all of the funds were contributed to the Adopt-A-Family program. In December of 2018 the scouts used these funds to purchase Christmas presents and food for families that cannot afford them.
