— Local doctors earned bragging rights for a year, besting local lawyers in the 35th annual Doctor Lawyer Softball Game, an annual charity game that helps support families living paycheck to paycheck in Sussex County. A fall tradition since 1982, the doctors have won the last three games, bringing the game tally to 18-17. The doctor’s team was headed by Nick DeBitetto, the lawyer’s team by Dan Benkendorf. The game includes a healthy dose of friendly rivalry, but an overwhelming commitment to the local community. The game benefits United Way of Northern New Jersey’s mission to help ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families overcome the barriers to financial stability.
