—The Sparta Board of Education will be holding a series of strategic planning meetings in September, October, and November to give all district stakeholders a chance to contribute to a “roadmap” for the future success of Sparta students. The new Strategic Plan shall guide direction and goals of the district for the next five years.
Parents, community members, staff, municipal leaders and members of civic groups are all cordially invited to attend one, any, or all of the three meetings, which will take place at the Sparta High School Media Center. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, September 20 from 7 pm – 8:30 pm, with check-in beginning at 6:40 pm.
The Board of Education is anxious to begin the process.
“Our last Strategic Plan proved to be very successful in driving the district forward,” says Dr. Michael Rossi, Superintendent of Schools. “Moreover, we completed it a year ahead of schedule, which is why we are starting a new one.”
Board of Education President Kelly McEvoy believes all members of the learning community need to play a role. “The people of Sparta and their contributions are crucial in order to create a successful strategic plan for the school district. We truly want all stakeholders to join us as we work through this exciting and meaningful process.”
Rossi will present a synopsis of the State of the District to open the September 20 meeting. The Sparta School District strengths and challenges will be discussed and delineated by the participants in a small-group format. Going forward, participants will have the opportunity to share and develop their aspirations and ideas to help set long-term goals.
“Education is the most powerful weapon we have to change the world," he said. "In Sparta our belief is that we must continuously strive to stay current, make instruction relevant; having a long-term roadmap is critical toward that aspiration. Without a destination any road will get you there.”
