Local dentist, Dr. Paige Van Keuren of Mohawk Dental, will provide a day of free preventive dental care for children ages 12 and under, as part of National Childrens Dental Health Month (CDHM).

The one-day program, called Give Kids a Smile!, will take place on Friday, Feb. 1, and is part of the American Dental Associations (ADA) annual push to bring attention to the number one childhood disease, tooth decay.

“Giving back to the community in which I was raised, and now practice, is important to me,” said Dr. Van Keuren. “I am humbled to be in a position where I can help local children improve their oral health.”

Children who come to Mohawk Dental on Feb. 1 will receive a comprehensive dental exam, cleaning, X-rays, fluoride treatment, and oral hygiene instruction — all free of charge. Children will also receive free dental hygiene materials (toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste).

Last year, more than one million children nationwide received over $100 million in dental care at 4,700 participating locations across the country. In New Jersey, nearly 4,000 children were seen statewide on Give Kids a Smile! day.

Dr. Paige Van Keuren has been practicing dentistry for more than 4 years in Sparta, Manhattan, and the Bronx. Mohawk Dental is located at 6 Seminary Lane in Sparta, NJ. Individuals who wish to see a dentist on Feb. 1, should call 973-970-DMD5 to schedule an appointment.
