Sparta Township has installed new trail information signage at Sparta Glen in an effort to enhance the experience for hikers and visitors, officials announced.

The project, led by the Sparta Trails Committee in partnership with the Sparta Environmental Commission and Sparta Green Team, includes two signs with pedestals placed at key access points. One is located near the main parking area at the base of the Sparta Glen Trails, while the other is positioned at the Younkers Landing trailhead off Holland Circle.

The signs provide details on trail routes, distances and difficulty levels, allowing visitors to better plan their hikes and choose paths suited to their abilities.

Funding for the project was provided through a $2,000 Sustainable Jersey grant supported by the PSEG Foundation.

Township officials said the improvements reflect Sparta’s ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, accessible and well-marked outdoor recreational spaces.

Sparta Glen is a popular destination for residents and visitors, offering scenic trails and opportunities for outdoor recreation. Officials said the new signage is expected to benefit users of the trail system while supporting long-term preservation efforts.

The Sparta Trails Committee works to develop, maintain and promote the township’s trail network, encouraging outdoor activity and environmental stewardship.
