Sparta native wins third Grammy

SPARTA — Sparta native Andreas K. Meyer was recently awarded his third Grammy and eighth nomination.
The award comes in the category of “Best Classical Small Chamber Ensemble” for the recording “In 27 Pieces, The Hilary Hahn Encores.” Meyer is credited as producer and recording engineer.
Recording over a two year period at Teldex Studios in Berlin, Germany, this double CD released by Deutsche Grammophon contains world premiere compositions specifically written for violinist Hilary Hahn. Hilary is accompanied by New York based pianist Cory Smythe, who has toured extensively with Hahn, and other international musicians.
Meyer graduated from Syracuse University in 1992 and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 1994. He is a 1987 graduate of Sparta High School.
Post production was completed at Meyer Media Mastering Studio located in Astoria, Queens.
Andreas and Hilary have been working together since Hahn’s first recording on Sony Classical when she was 16. Since then, they have collaborated on over a dozen projects including the premiere recording of composer Jennifer Higdon’s Violin Concerto for Hilary, which was a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Besides being in demand for new recordings, Meyer also specializes in reissue mastering of historical recordings.
His first Grammy award was for engineering on “Louis Armstrong – Hot Five’s and Seven’s” box set released by Legacy Records, which won the “Best Historical Release” category in 2000.
Current projects he is working on and soon to be released include “Eddy Condon – The Complete Commodore and Decca Recordings," “Glenn Gould – The Complete Columbia Recordings," and “Kevin Orr – Barber Piano Concerto and Sonata,” to be recorded with RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra Fall 2015, and released on Meyer Media LLC.
