Sparta Scout Troop Mulch Drive is in full swing

It’s hard to fathom, yet spring is here, and thoughts turn to mulch.
It's a part of planning to garden and it's a dirty job to head to the local garden center to fetch and haul heavy, dirty bags of mulch. But there is an easier way and that his helpful to a local Scout troop, as well as homeowners.
The nitty gritty:Imagine ineeding almost 3,700 bags of mulch? A stack of 3,700 bags on top of one another would be 131 stories high. Stretched out end-to-end, that's two miles.
Last year, Sparta Troop 150 sold almost 3,700 bags of mulch at last year's sale. It was a tremendous success, so much in fact that people are inquiring when they can order again. Well, it's now time for year's sale, which runs through April 8. Funds raised will help Sparta Troop 150 provide Christmas presents for about 50 families through the Adopt-A-Family Program. It also helps provide a sizable donation to the Sussex County Food Bank. Additionally, it helps less fortunate Scouts with fees to attend camp/events, and provides scholarships to those attending leadership training and educational programs. Lastly, it gives opportunity to upgrade some equipment to better serve Scouts and keep them safe. All of these benefited the Sparta community as a whole.
How to order:All bags of this organic high quality cedar mulch cost $6 and measure 3.0 cu/ft. A variety of colors are available including black, brown, natural and red, but quantities are limited. Just as comparison, most “Box Stores” sell the same amount for $5.50 but with pickup and then cleaning out the car.
Delivery is included for orders of 11 bags or more. For smaller orders, Troop 150 will set up a “pick-up” station at the Acting-A-Part Parking Lot where Scouts will load the car for the purchaser. Acting-A-Part is located at 409 Woodport Rd. Sparta.
All mulch will arrive on May 11, in time for Mother’s Day.
