Sparta student awarded James B. Nye Scholarship

Cassidy Perkinson was awarded the 2015 James B. Nye Scholarship last month at the Sparta High School Academic Awards Dinner at Minerals in Vernon.
Perkinson was ranked in the “Top 10” of Sparta High School’s 2015 graduating class. She served as the editor-in-chief for the school newspaper and will be attending the University of Richmond in the fall.
The James B. Nye Scholarship Fund was established in 2013 to honor Jim's commitment to excellence in education and to provide some financial support towards college costs to a student who embodies and demonstrates qualities of leadership and civic responsibility.
The annual fundraising event for the fund, a golf outing and dinner at Skyview Golf Club in Sparta, will be held this year on Sept. 30.
