Sparta Winter Festival

It's been cold, rainy, and snowy recently, so it is easy to see why some children and their parents may have experienced a bit of cabin fever lately. Fortunately, thanks to volunteers and Sparta Recreation, lots of children were able to have some fun at Annual Winter Festival last weekend. Cian Malady, 5, is one of the children who enjoyed the indoor activities at Sparta's Winter Festival. The annual Festival helps keep students busy, and warm, during the thick of winter. For 10 years it was held outside, until five year's ago when a big storm hit, cancelling the event. Since then it's been indoors. This year the event was held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Middle School, with about 400 children in attendance. The Festival is volunteer-led, with children enjoying face painting, crafts, and magic shows.
