Students assist at animal shelter
NEWTON — Eighth grade students from Green Hills Elementary School are helping shelter animals get adopted. These students are currently participating in Altitude service projects, led by teachers Kathy Rathbone, Anna Gundersen and Tiffany Lutz. Altitude, they explained, is an empowerment program for 8th graders in Sussex County, inspiring students to “Take The Climb” toward their highest and best selves.
The Altitude club at Green Hills Elementary School decided that they wanted to help shelter animals, and decorated bandanas for the dogs and made chew toys to donate to shelters. The students had two visitors, Karen Yost, and shelter Dog, Delilah, come to their school to speak to them about animal shelters. The students decided to host an animal adoption day at Father John's Animal House on January 29, 2017. The event will run from 12-3pm.
