SPARTA — Lake Mohawk will again be the host for the 4th Annual Sussex County Lifeguard Competition on Monday, August 7. The event will be held at Lake Mohawk’s Beach 1 beginning at 6PM.
This spirited competition pits teams of Lifeguards from throughout Sussex and some from Morris and Warren Counties against each other. The competition is designed to bring Waterfront Lifeguards together to compete and demonstrate their lifeguard skills.
This year’s events include Rescue Tube and Paddle Board Relays, 500 yard Open Water Swim, a Run/Swim/Run/Swim Relay and a new event, Submerged Victim Rescue with team CPR. Judging is done by American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructors and Instructor Trainers.
An awards ceremony is conducted right after the event with medals to individuals and team participants. The traveling trophy is awarded to the Lifeguard team with the best overall score. LMCC’s Marine Patrol mans the grill for the BBQ on the Boardwalk and the camaraderie among the guards and staff begins.
