SPARTA — For the first time, students at Sussex County Technical School competed in the Merck State Science Day competition held in May.
The students competed, as individuals and as teams, in the areas of biology and physics. Some took the integrated science test which comprised chemistry, biology, physics, and earth science.
One of the students, Max Bareiss, a physics student in the engineering shop, placed first in Sussex County.
This was the 63rd annual competition for secondary students sponsored by The New Jersey Science Teacher’s Association with a grant from the Merck Institute for Science Education. Almost 100 schools from all over New Jersey participated; eight from Sussex County.
