Christina Elsayed has opened a unique sanctuary for both the mind and body at Satya. Offering yoga, massage and art, Elsayed, known as ‘Stina’ marries her creative flair and extensive yoga and massage training in this multi-purpose, boutique studio space.

Opened this past October, Satya’s intimate atmosphere offers something different when it comes to yoga classes and art events.

“The intimate setting is cozy and allows for small class sizes and personal attention. The yoga classes draw a lot of beginners, because it’s not intimidating,” said Elsayed.

A variety of yoga classes such as beginner, integral, certified teachers including Elsayed and others who specialize in that form of yoga teach Mommy and me and teen yoga. Class size is limited and those interested are encouraged to reserve space by calling or texting 973-768-3269.

A massage therapist for 18 years, Elsayed is trained in many disciplines of massage focusing on contemporary western style.

“The massage is mainly relaxation and therapeutic based for men, women, children. I also do Reiki massage,” said Elsayed.

Reiki is a Japanese massage technique that promotes healing for stress reduction and relaxation. Prenatal yoga and massage is also available.

Massages start at $70 for an hour and can be customized to someone’s needs. Community-minded Elsayed has been providing free chair massages on Saturdays at Sparta Farmers Market at the Sparta Middle School.

The interior of Satya’s Main Street storefront, adjacent to Argosy Travel in the building next to Cloveberry, was designed and created by Elsayed and her husband using favorite color palettes and natural materials.

“It’s a Bohemian–Tiki décor, similar to the way I decorate my home," she said. "I used soothing colors and natural elements in both the studio and the private massage room.”

Satya also acts as an art gallery and is presently featuring the paintings of local artist Jason J. Nicholas. His watercolors are on display and available for purchase.

“Jason is from Jefferson and is an architect in Oak Ridge. His paint & sip watercolor classes have been very popular and are fun,” said Elsayed.

Those interested in expanding art horizons can try Satya’s Imagination Workshop for Children on Wednesdays and the Saturday night, bi-monthly “Water Color Your World,” paint & sip for adults.

The versatile space is also ideal for children’s’ birthday parties with an art or yoga theme. Small adult groups can also arrange art or private yoga parties.

“I am trying to offer something for all ages and groups,” she said. “I want it to be accessible to everyone.”

To get the word out, Satya is offering $5 off any yoga class, $10 off any workshop and $15 off a 60-minute massage for all new clients.

In addition to a Satya’s Facebook page, an extensive yoga, art and events schedule can be found at www.satyaboutiquestudio.com.

Elsayed was raised in Jefferson and has resided in Andover Township for the past 10 years with her husband and two sons. She is enjoying her journey so far in her new endeavor and looks forward to Satya evolving.

Satya’s logo incorporates an elephant that has meaning for its owner.

“My mom passed away a few years ago-she was very drawn to elephants. So in many ways the elephant is a peaceful reminder that she is with me,” said Elsayed.

A fitting tribute to her mother Mary as the elephant historically symbolizes wisdom and strength, two qualities that Elsayed is hoping to give to people at Satya.

Satya is located at 19 Main Street in Sparta. For more information visit www.satyaboutiquestudio.com or call 973-768-3269.
