ANDOVER- Green Life Market hosted its first annual Health Festival last Saturday, July 29. Local vendors participated and 20 percent of the profits were donated to Sunset Vista Community Garden and Life with Joy.
Green Life Market opened its doors on Newton-Sparta Road a year ago. Owned by the Yassin family, there are also locations in Butler and Morristown. Specializing in a variety of organic, non-GMO and fresh foods, the store is appealing to the ‘healthy lifestyle’ customers according to www.greenlifemarket.com:
“We pride ourselves on not only stocking the highest quality products, but also having a staff that’s knowledgeable and enthusiastic enough to ensure you find the best item for your specific needs
The two beneficiaries are locally based non-profit organizations. Sunset Vista Community Garden & Learning Center on Pierce Road in Andover offers educational programs and a community -supported garden including an accessible garden. Life with Joy Inc. out of Green Township provides housing, activities and classes for adults with disabilities.
“The event consists of local businesses selling their products, live music, food, events and classes. Our goal is to be able to get involved in the community and showcase who we are and what we do as well as give back to others who are on a similar path as we are, “ said Brittany Dow, Green Life Marketing Manager.
Linda Beg, owner of three-year old company Starseed Bakery in Rockaway was on hand selling her vegan baked goods, all GMO free and gluten-free. Also present was Susan Parnell, founder of Sparta’s own Wild Leaf Active Tea; both products are available at Green Life Market.
A dry, beautiful day set the tone for the outdoor fun where people dropped in and out to enjoy the music, free samples and even a yoga class.
Robin Van Schaick of Lake Hopatcong was one of the attendees.
“I am vegan and I like the organic selection at Green Life. I can find things here that I prefer to eat.”
Owner Kamel Yassin was pleased with the turnout and success of the event.
“Supporting the community and helping others is an amzing experience, “ he said.
