Veterinarian joins animal hospital

AUGUSTA — The Animal Hospital of Sussex County welcomes Dr. Courtney Scairpon to their practice in Augusta. Scairpon is a lifelong resident of Green Township, attended Pope John High School, Rutgers University and completed her D.V.M. at University College Dublin in Ireland. Courtney’s grandmother came from Ireland, and it was her lifelong goal to study in Ireland and travel the European continent on holidays. She visited 6 countries her first year in Vet School and learned different avenues of the veterinary disciplines.
Scairpon chose the Animal Hospital of Sussex County due to the veterinary practice in Augusta is not a corporate entity and is family based. The veterinarians answer to the clients and not the shareholders of a corporation. Dr. Spinks’ reputation in Sussex County as a highly regarded veterinarian and the reputation of his family owned business, helped Scairpon make her decision to join the Animal Hospital. Founded in 1986 with only a hand full of clients ,the veterinary practice has grown with the community and new technology. Today the Sussex County Animal Hospital is a 4-doctor American Animal Hospital Association-accredited practice with digital x-ray, cryosurgery, traditional surgery, a mobile portable veterinary unit for home or farm visits, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, boarding facility and a state of the art seven exam room animal hospital facility. Scairpon accepted the position based on their personal concern for pet patients, and the positive business reputation of the Animal Hospital team doing business in Sussex County for over thirty years.
While the Animal Hospital of Sussex County is a mixed veterinary practice serving large, small and exotic animals Scairpon enjoys learning the history of each pet, where they came from and how they were adopted.
“Every case is unique,” Scairpon said. “it is most rewarding to make an animal feel better and reassure the pet’s parent.”
“Dr. Courtney adds to our health care team with her contribution of caring, and kindness,” said Dr. Ted Spinks, V.M.D., proprietor of the Animal Hospital of Sussex County. “She is a skilled and dedicated veterinarian with exemplary diagnostic skills.”
