Local PBA to ride for charity

Sussex County - Saturday, Aug. 19 marks the date for the first Jailbreak for Charity Motorcycle Ride hosted by the Sussex County Corrections PBA Local #378. “We’re excited about this first motorcycle ride and the opportunity to gather with the community for a good cause,” said Lt. Edward Pandiscia, co-chair of the event, “We’ve decided to donate all proceeds from the ride to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, an exceptional organization that helps our loved ones cope with end-of-life challenges with both comfort and dignity.” Riders will congregate at the VFW on Mill Street in Newton and registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $25 per rider and $20 per passenger. Riders will depart at 11 for an hour-long scenic ride throughout northwest New Jersey. After the ride, there will be a barbeque, vendors, event souvenirs, tickets for a raffle for a Harley-Davidson 2006 Road King Classic to being drawn on New Year’s Day, and more. “The Sussex County Corrections Local PBA #378 is bringing the motorcycle enthusiast community together to give something back to such a wonderful organization,” said Officer Erich Olsen, co-chair of the event. “Everybody’s life has been touched by a friend or family member with a terminal illness, and the compassion that the hospice extends to these patients and their families is immeasurable.” For additional information, call 973-570-6738.
