Medical assistants recognized at college
Newton Sussex County Community College is gearing up to celebrate Medical Assistants Recognition Week, Oct. 16-20, as designated by the American Association of Medical Assistants. Medical assistants will be recognized across the country during this special week and honored on Medical Assistant Recognition Day, Thursday, Oct. 19, with an all-day seminar at the college. The highlights of the seminar include the following presentations: “New Developments in Clinical Ophthalmology: Office Based and Surgical Procedures,” presented by Jeffrey T. Liegner, MD.; “Technology in the Doctor’s Office,” presented by Wendy Frieling, MD, FAAP.; “Female Screening Exams” and “New Updates on HPV Testing with Pap Smears,” presented by Fred Nichols, DO. In addition to the guest speakers, the day will include a registration and welcome beginning at 2 p.m. A light dinner will be served and the program is scheduled to conclude at approximately 9 p.m. Medical assistants will have the opportunity to network with other medical professionals, advance their professional knowledge and earn required Continuing Education Units. Advanced registration is required. The cost is $8 students, $20 members of the American Association of Medical Assistants and $25 non-members.
