Middle school students collect phones for DASI

Sparta - Members of the Sparta Middle School H2H (Here to Help) group have been collecting cell phones for the past two months and plan to continue the project for the entire school year. The cell phones will be used in two ways. Phones with chargers will be deprogrammed then programmed for emergency 911 calls. These phones will be given to DASI clients that are living with the threat of bodily harm. The remaining phones will be sent to Shelter Alliance. They will evaluate the phones and send a check to DASI according to their value. The Here to Help group will also run projects to support Project Self-Sufficiency, a SCARC clothing drive, Kids for Cancer, American Red Cross, and Spina Bifida. The group has also taken part in the Sussex County Teen Summit and developed an anti-bulling action plan for the Sparta Middle School.
