SPARTA - The recently opened Mohawk House Restaurant in Sparta features the work of artist Peter Koenig as a major portion of its décor. The works are mixed media paintings inspired by early American tavern and trade signs. The paintings are artificially aged and so skillfully rendered that they are frequently mistaken for antiques. The largest piece is of an eagle, over 8 feet wide, that occupies a wall in the pub area. The others are displayed throughout the restaurant located at 3 Sparta Junction, Sparta.
