Sparta - Students at the Alpine School in Sparta were paid a visit recently by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, played by pianist Dennis Kobray, in a special “Meet the Musicians” assembly. The assembly was made possible through the efforts of the school PTO’s cultural enrichment committee, which presents outstanding educational assemblies each year. Kobray, an accomplished pianist, portrayed Mozart for an hour-long dramatic presentation, and mingled with the students. Mozart is the prototype of the child prodigy. Born in Salzburg, Austria, on Jan. 27, 1756, by the age of three he could pick out tunes on the piano. Kobray’s portrayal enabled the students to experience first-hand the music, feeling, life and history of this world famous composer.
