Sparta — The Sussex County affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness has begun offering a peer-led support group for people recovering from mental illness. The group, called NAMI Connection, is open free of charge to any adult who has experienced a mental health problem. It will offer a relaxed approach to sharing the challenges of coping with mental illness. Meetings will be led by two trained volunteers who will follow a flexible structure without an educational format. Everything discussed in the group will be kept confidential. Officials said the group will offer respect, understanding, encouragement and hope. Meetings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at The Woodland Group Building in Sparta. To learn more, call 973-214-0632.
