New "self-cleaning" tiles promoted

SPARTA—Manufacturers routinely advise architects of their latest products, techniques and designs. These mini seminars, dubbed "Lunch and Learn," keep them current on what's available for both residential and commercial applications. A recent luncheon demonstrated a self-cleaning tile made by Deutsche Steinzeug America Ceramics, with a patented process called Hydrotect. It is especially applicable to places such as medical facilities and automobile centers, as it can simply be hosed for cleaning. As part of their training, the architects have also gleamed information from Pittsburg Corning (visionary designing with glass block), Sherwin Williams (paint basics), Dow Chemical Company (moisture management and roofing systems) and Virtue Tile Company (a wide range of self-cleaning, wood, suede and even lighted tiles). Sowinski Sullivan Architects specializes in medical centers, education, recreation, transportation, commercial, and residential projects. Further information, visit www.sowinskisullivan.com.
