Peabody graduate to open violin/viola studio

    SPARTA—Kimberly Syvertsen, a graduate of Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, is opening a violin/viola studio in Sparta. Syvertsen received her bachelor's of music in violin performance with a 3.83 GPA this May. She recently returned to Sussex County to pursue an artist diploma at Montclair State University under the tutelage of Yi-Wen Jiang, of the Shanghai String Quartet. While in Baltimore, Syvertsen's primary studies were under the eminent Shirley Givens. During her time at Peabody, she was an active member of the chamber and orchestral programs, and directed an after school music program in the Baltimore public schools. Her students participated and placed in numerous festivals, recitals, and competitions. She has also lectured at Montclair State University, and served as a student panelist for the Maryland State Medical Society. Syvertsen is offering instruction for beginning, intermediate, and advancing students of all ages, in traditional study or the Suzuki Method. For more information, call 973-729-2116.
