Sparta Fire Department snuffs out truck fire

The fire department quickly suppressed the fire, and cleared the scene by 11:30 a.m. (

On August 1, at 10:47 a.m., Sparta Township Fire Department volunteers were dispatched to a reported vehicle fire at the intersection of Prides Crossing and Deire Drive. Units on scene encountered a large Mason dump truck with its cab fully engulfed in flames. One line was pulled from the bumper of Engine 3 to extinguish the fire, according to a STFD announcement.
The driver had exited the vehicle with ample time; no injuries were reported.
All fire units were clear of the scene at 11:30 a.m. The Sparta Police Department also assisted at the scene by controlling traffic in the area.
