Princeton -  The Princeton Prize in Race Relations, an awards program for high school students who are doing exceptional work in their schools or communities to advance the cause of race relations, has expanded to the Northwestern New Jersey region this fall.  Students who are involved in an activity that is helping to promote harmony, respect and understanding among people of different races are encouraged to apply. Students will be judged by area alumni serving on the Princeton Prize committee and will be recognized with awards, including a first place cash award of $1000. Students will be honored at a recognition ceremony in the spring of 2007. It is the goal of the Princeton Prize to encourage these young people by honoring them for their unique and creative projects that have made a difference in their communities.  Students enrolled in grades 9 - 12 at both public and private high schools in Morris, Sussex, Warren, Somerset, Union and Hunterdon counties are eligible to participate in the Northwestern New Jersey Princeton Prize program. Applicants must have been involved in their volunteer project in the last 12 months. The two-part application includes a section to be completed by the student and another to be completed by an adult sponsor/supporter not related to the applicant. All applications must be postmarked by January 31, 2007. Applications can be downloaded from the Princeton Prize website: www.princeton.edu/PrincetonPrize  For more information, please contact Janice Arnold at (973) 630-8696 or Paul Flowerman at (973) 984-0900 x213.
