Newton — Newton Memorial Hospital will be hosting a "Prostate Cancer Screening" from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Milford Health and Wellness Center, 111 East Catharine Street, Milford Pa. Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer found in American men, other than skin cancer. Although men of any age can get prostate cancer, more than 8 of 10 men with prostate cancer are over the age of 65. Thus it is important for men who are 50 or older to screen themselves. The free screening, including a digital rectal exam and a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test, is arranged through the Pike County Health Fund. Appointments are required. Call 973-579-8340 to register or for more information.
