Registration for YMCA winter programs begins Dec. 26

    Hardyston - Registration for winter session programs at the Sussex County YMCA begins Dec. 26. Members must register for the programs in person at the YMCA, located at 15 Wits End Rd., Hamburg. The winter session, which begins Jan. 9 and runs through March 5, will offer a wide variety of programs and classes, including the following. Aquatic programs - Aquatic programs will be offered to people of all ages and skill levels. Children as young as 3 months old are welcome to enroll in one of the YMCA’s many aquatic youth classes. These are specially designed to help children learn the fundamentals of swimming by progressively building upon the skills learned at each previous level. Adults and seniors may choose from two adult swim instruction classes for beginners or more advanced swimmers. They may choose from a number of aquatic fitness programs, which provide a full body workout with little stress on joints; ideal for people with arthritis. The YMCA also offers CPR and first-aid training, as well as a “drown-proofing” program. Adult programs - The Y offers a wide variety of programs to adults that focus on building the spirit, mind and body, including tai chi, yoga, karate, basketball, aikido, bridge classes, arthritis self-management, and a host of fitness classes such as cardio, step, Pilates and more. Teen programs - Teen programs are among the most popular programs at the YMCA, and include teen cardio, Pilates, training workshops, fitness swim, self-defense, performing arts, cycling and kick-boxing. Youth programs - The Y offers a full array of sports programs and clinics as well as many youth specialty programs for children as young as 3 years-old, such as basketball, soccer, floor hockey, gymnastics, karate, wrestling, cheerleading, arts and crafts, performing arts, chess, magic classes and others.
