Registration now open for Fall II programs at YMCA
Fredon The Sussex County YMCA offers fun-filled, affordable programs at the Civic Center in Fredon. Registration for Fall II classes is now open. New for the fall, the Sussex County YMCA will be running a Wednesday night Adult Basketball Program. Classes are open to Fredon residents and non-residents. Fredon residents receive a discount on program fees through the support of the Fredon Recreation Committee. The Fall II session runs from Nov. 10 to Dec. 17 (six weeks). Pre-registration is required for all programs. The construction of a new Civic Center in 2006, housing the Fredon Township Fire Department and a gymnasium to serve the many sporting needs of the township, led to collaboration between the Fredon Recreation Committee and the Sussex County YMCA to provide recreational opportunities for Fredon residents. Since March 2007, the Sussex County YMCA has been offering classes for children, adults and seniors, from tumbling and soccer classes for children to group exercise classes for adults and seniors. “The Sussex County YMCA is committed to providing opportunities for everyone in our community to be healthy. By offering classes in the community, such as the programs we have established in Fredon, we are able to remove some of the barriers to participation such as accessibility and convenience,” reports Joanne Browne, senior program director. “We are into our second year at Fredon Civic Center and it has been going really well. Our program schedule reflects the needs of the community and we are always interested in feedback to improve or add new programs.” For more information on Fredon programs, visit www.sussexcountyymca.org or call the Sussex County YMCA at 973-209-9622.
