Sparta-The bridge is crumbling and the county wants to fix it, however, Lake Grinnell residents are up in arms trying to stop the plans to rebuild it. The existing one lane wooden historical bridge has been closed off to public use for over two years after it was struck by a truck and deemed impassible by engineers. The bridge, which is owned by the county, is scheduled to be removed and replaced by a modern two lane structure. At a Sparta Township council meeting last month, some 20 area residents asked township officials to help halt the construction of the new bridge.
