Winona Parkway, Stanhope Road and Winona Terrace were all affected by the deluge of rain that pummeled Sparta June 22-25. “The Wallkill River came out of its banks,” said David Troust of the Sparta Road Department. “There was no significant road damage but it could be an inconvenience for (up to) three weeks.”The large amount of rain caused enough damage to close those three roads for more than a week, but not as long as the department had anticipated. The roads were repaired and reopened July 2 for the Fourth of July weekend.
