Sussex COunty — Ronetco Supermarkets collected 203 pints of blood during its blood drive, held during the active summer months when the need is critical and many people are away from home. Ronetco holds two blood drives annually, at which associates at its corporate headquarters and at its seven ShopRite supermarkets are invited to donate. Customers are also invited to donate at these drives. Ronetco ShopRites are located through Northwest New Jersey. A minimum of 400 units of blood are needed each day to meet the needs of patients in Northern and Central New Jersey. The shelf life is 42 days for the red blood cells; five days for platelets, and only hours for white cells; thus, a continuous supply is needed.
