SUSSEX COUNTY—Saint Clare’s Health System recently won two overall patient satisfaction awards from The Jackson Organization for its commitment to excellence in patient care. Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex was recognized as the top hospital in the nation for Overall Inpatient Satisfaction in the medium hospital category (100-249 licensed beds). The Emergency Department at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville was recognized as the top emergency facility in the nation for Overall Emergency Department Satisfaction in the large hospital category (over 250 licensed beds). “We are honored to have been nationally recognized by The Jackson Organization for our overall patient satisfaction score for both our acute care hospital in Sussex and our Denville-based emergency,” said Gary J. Blan, President and CEO of Saint Clare’s Health System. “We are committed to enhancing each patient’s experience through our commitment to quality medical care. These honors serve as a testament to the high-quality care our patients receive and to the commitment of our sponsors, the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, and the physicians, staff, and volunteers at Saint Clare’s.” To qualify for the recent Jackson Organization awards, a hospital must have been a patient satisfaction-tracking client of the Jackson Organization for all four quarters in . The Jackson award for Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex is one of several recent honors for this mid-size, rural community hospital. In , Jackson honored the facility for its Overall Outpatient Satisfaction, and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services ranked the Sussex hospital second in the state for its treatment of pneumonia, as part of its most recent hospital performance report. “Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex shares our sister hospitals’ commitment to providing high quality care to our community, with special concern for the vulnerable and poor. Our track record of high rankings and awards shows dedication to mission and is witness to the support and approval of our community,” said Stephen Bocskocsky, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex. “For a number of years, the Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville Emergency Department has consistently scored higher than the Jackson survey benchmark in the category,” says Charles Flinn, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Saint Clare’s Hospital/Denville. “Achieving high patient satisfaction, especially after the Institute of Medicine recently called the nation’s emergency departments overburdened, under-funded, and highly fragmented, is an extraordinary achievement.” Award winners will be recognized at a formal awards ceremony at The Jackson Organization Annual Conference, Oct. 17-18, at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
