Augusta — The SCARC Guardianship Services Board of Trustees has named its new board directors — Larry Marro as president and Harold MacMurren as vice president. Marilyn Olsen was also re-elected as secretary/treasurer. The three will officially take office on July 2. Marro, previously vice president, is a controller at Tri-State Insurance Agency, Inc. He has been a member of the board of trustees since 1994 and joined the board of directors in 2009. He and his wife, Patricia, have two children, Ashley and Ryan. Ryan has Fragile X syndrome, as does Marro’s nephew. His decision to join the board was fueled by wanting to be a part of a worthwhile organization where his contribution could have a direct impact on the organization. MacMurren, a former board member, is a psychologist and attorney who joined the SCARC Guardianship Services Board in 2009. He has spent 35 years working with disabled students and wanted to be a part of an organization that helps those students into adulthood. MacMurren has a passion for those with developmental disabilities as he had an aunt who was cognitively impaired. He lives in Branchville with his wife Margaret. Olsen, re-elected for another term as secretary/treasurer, is a vendor and sales representative for Performance Sales. She came to the board in 1994. She and her husband, Rich, have three children, Richie, Mary and Carrie. Richie and Mary both have developmental disabilities which was her motivation to join the board. SCARC Guardianship Services, Inc. is a private, nonprofit corporation that was founded as an independent member of the SCARC family of services in 1989 in response to requests from parents for guardianship services for people with developmental disabilities in Sussex County.
