SCARC recipient of Ogdensburg School food drive
Ogdensburg SCARC’s Harvest Home Food program, in Hardyston Township, was the recent recipient of a Thanksgiving food drive held by the Ogdensburg School. The food drive, sponsored by the school student council, collected food that was given to SCARC’s Harvest Home Food program to distribute to needy families in the Sussex County area. Ogdensburg School and Harvest Home Foods has formed a partnership in the community to help with challenges of supplying food for the growing demand in Sussex County. Students were supported by teacher, Cynthia Gundermann. “The students at Ogdensburg School have had an annual fund drive to assist needy families in Sussex County for the past couple of years,” said Deboragh Flatt, Harvest Home program supervisor. “We are so excited about the partnership between Harvest Home and Ogdensburg School.” The Thanksgiving’s food drive was supplemented by Vince’s Karate Academy in Wantage. which collected food and delivered it to Harvest Home Foods. The Harvest Home Food program served 377 families during the month of November in order to make the Thanksgiving holiday a time of happiness and joy for needy families. The Harvest Home Food program is part of SCARC’s community volunteer services which also sponsors two Harvest Home Clothing Company locations. The Harvest Home Food and Clothing programs utilize volunteers with developmental disabilities to deliver food and clothing to needy families in Sussex County.
