Scholastic art invitational awards $20,000 scholarship

    Cami DiResta, a senior at Vernon Township High School, won Best in Show at the Fourth Annual Invitational Competition, adjudicated by Amy Kettenburg from the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. DiResta’s innovative newspaper sculpture of a dress won her a $20,000 Presidential Scholarship to the art school, housed in the same building as the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Other Vernon High winners included Tyler Vosburg (on left) and Aaron Freed (far right), who each won a $4,000 Dean’s Scholarship. Pictured with them are Kettenburg (second from left) and DiResta. A total of 12 schools in the area were represented by their best artists, including Bergenfield, High Point, Montville, Mount Olive, Parsippany, Passaic Valley, Pompton Lakes, Wallkill Valley, and West Milford.
