Scholastic literary magazine honored by Columbia University

Sparta The 2006 edition of the Sparta High School literary magazine, Beginnings, recently earned a Gold Award for excellence in student artwork and literature from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The magazine was created under the editorship of Megan Vitovic, now a senior at Sparta High School. Literary editor was Audrey Boushell and art editor was Bryan Neumann. Founded in 1925, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association unites student editors and faculty advisers working with them to produce student newspapers, magazines yearbooks and online media. The Association is owned by Columbia University and operated as a program affiliated with its Graduate School of Journalism. Beginnings 2007 is currently in production and contributions are still being accepted from students.
